Digital PCR (dPCR) is an advanced molecular biology technology that enables highly accurate detection and quantification of nucleic acids. Unlike quantitative PCR (qPCR), which relies on real-time amplification and relative fluorescence analysis, dPCR segments the sample into thousands or even millions of individual partitions where amplification occurs independently.

• Absolute and accurate quantification: dPCR provides a direct measurement of DNA or RNA copy number without relying on a standard curve, thereby reducing experimental variation.
• Sensitivity and detection of low abundances: Thanks to the compartmentalization of reactions, dPCR allows the detection of rare targets in a sample, which is essential for the analysis of somatic mutations, the detection of pathogens at low concentrations or the study of environmental contaminants.
• Robustness to inhibitors: Unlike qPCR, dPCR is less sensitive to inhibitors present in complex matrices (e.g. environmental, biological or clinical samples), thus ensuring more reliable results.
• Variant detection and diagnostic applications: dPCR is particularly suitable for identifying rare mutations, quantifying genetic alterations in liquid biopsies or analyzing variations in the number of genomic copies.
